Easton's a free man
Incredible news! At our helmet appointment yesterday Easton was scanned once again and all of his numbers (that were 5’s in the beginning) fell into the 2 range. The doctor was extremely shocked and pleased. He admitted that he felt like throwing in the towel months ago, thinking he would not be able to make any more improvements to Easton’s head. He said it was our determination and persistence that encouraged him to continue. After seeing what nearly 5 months of helmet therapy can do for such a rare condition he said he won’t hesitate to try it again in the future. As of today, Easton is helmet-free! I feel like the roller coaster ride we have been on for the past 7 months is almost over. No more helmet therapy, the dermoid cyst can be removed now that the helmet is off, and physical therapy should be coming to an end soon. We have been to 34 appointments addressing these three issues since April and if I never see the inside of another doctor’s office it will be too soon. Our little boy has been through so much (though I know some kids go through worse) and yet it never seems to faze him. All of his doctors and therapists say he is one of their favorite patients. He never complains, always has a smile on his face, and takes everything in stride (must mean he is going to be more like his father than his mother). I’m extremely proud of him for being so strong and overcoming such big obstacles for such a little guy. Let’s celebrate!
