I've got sunshine

Easton met his new therapist, Lisa, last night (this is his 4 therapist). I expected him to have a meltdown similar to last week b/c he was meeting someone new but it never happened. Lisa let him play on his own near her for a while before she even tried to touch him. She talked to him in the sweetest voice and was very "motherly" towards him and he warmed right up to her. She found the right blend of pushing him just enough and letting him have some freedom. Easton absolutely shined last night. It was our best session yet. Lisa had some different, gentler, techniques that he really liked and he did everything she asked him to do. Before they were only getting him to stand up leading with his left left once or twice a session. Last night he got up probably 20 times with his left leg!!!! Half of the time we gave him a cue but the other half was on his own. I was cheering so loud for him you would have thought it was his first teeball game. I was so proud of him. He made progress in other areas too but the left leg lead was his toughest skill to master. Now that Lisa showed me a better way to get him to do it, I won't be so hesitant to help him at home. The other technique I was shown seemed so cruel that I hated doing it at home. It was so nice to not have to watch Easton cry for a full hour. He only cried twice - once when she stretched his neck and once when he fell. How refreshing. And. . . . . he took his first solo step! Things are finally looking up for the big guy.
