Doctor's Appt

We went to the pediatric surgeon yesterday to have the bump on Easton's forehead checked out. That doctor confirmed that it is a cyst, a dermoid cyst to be specific, and that it would have to be removed. I researched that type of cyst and was pretty grossed out. Most sites say that the cyst is a collection of hair, fluid, teeth, or skin glands that can be found on or in the skin. Yuck. They are caused when those skin structures get trapped during fetal development. As of right now it poses no threat to Easton and causes him no pain. The reason it needs to be removed is because if it were to rupture, become inflamed, or get infected it would require emergency surgery. The doctor wants to wait until Easton is between 3-6 months to do the surgery just to make sure he is bigger and stronger to handle the anesthesia. We go back in July for another consult and they plan to do the surgery in August while I am still off of work. The doctor said he might be able to hide the incision in his hairline to minimize the scars visibility but he is more concerned with removing the entire cyst so that it doesn't come back. Poor guy.

Poor guy is right! We'll be praying for him. It will be good when the surgery is over and he's back home. Glad you guys got it checked out and its something they can take care of.
